Capturing those early moments with your newborn is such a special experience, and a home photo session can be a cozy and intimate way to do it. Here’s how to get ready to make sure everything goes smoothly and you get those adorable shots you’ll cherish forever.
1. Set Up a Couple of Clean Spaces
First things first: you’ll want to prepare at least two clean, tidy areas for the shoot. Typically, these are the nursery, the master bedroom, or the living room. Ideally, pick spots with good natural light. When it comes to bedding and backgrounds, go for light, neutral colors like white or beige. If you don’t have exactly those colors, no worries—just go for a color scheme that’s easy on the eyes and harmonious.
2. Dress the Baby in a White Onesie
For some of the photos, it’s great to have your baby in a simple white onesie. This not only looks classic but also keeps the focus on your little one. We’ll start with some shots in the onesie, and then we can either wrap your baby up or switch to another outfit. Feel free to prepare a couple of your own outfits for variety, but don’t worry—I’ll bring some extra options just in case.
3. Prepare for the Day
On the day of the shoot, make sure you have all the essentials handy. Think of things like milk, diapers, and pacifiers. Having these items close by will help keep the session running smoothly, as we can quickly tend to any needs your baby might have.
4. Share Any Special Requests
I’ll come with a plan for the shoot, but if there are any specific shots or ideas you have in mind, let me know ahead of time. Whether it’s a particular pose, prop, or setting, I’d love to incorporate your vision into the session.
I hope these tips help you get ready for a smooth and successful newborn photo session at home. If you have any questions or need more details, just give me a shout!
